La slavistica come strumento per l’amicizia fra i popoli. In ricordo di Enrico Damiani (1892-1953)
This volume brings together the proceedings of the Enrico Damiani
Conference: Slavic Studies as a Tool for Friendship between Peoples,
organized by the Università Orientale of Naples and held in Procida on
June 12, 2023. The aim of the conference was not only to commemorate,
seventy years after his death, one of the pioneers of Italian Slavic
studies, but also to present his tireless work as a popularizer and
cultural mediator from some new perspectives that could capture
aspects not yet sufficiently explored, thanks also to the publication
of unpublished materials preserved in the Luigi Salvini Archive and
the Library of the Chamber of Deputies. The result is a familiar
picture of Damiani, but at the same time shows him in a new light
thanks to the interpretation we can give it today, allowing us to
understand even better the fundamental role he played in the progress
of Slavic studies in Italy.
